Time

A few days in New York at a pal’s. From the second floor window, where puffs of overheated air insisted from the radiators, I watched bundled New Yorkers walking in the cold rain, hands jammed in pockets, hunched tight shoulders, heads cast down, staring at the cement sidewalks they marched across. Quick steps moving them along, they kept to themselves, never making eye contact, everyone isolated in his individual pod of pensées obscure.

  1. Dear Christina,
    Enjoy reading your blogs,
Please forgive me for writing an introduction email on this blog …currently in CHina and so many sites are not accessible.

Last week my family and I were holidaying in Corfu Greece when by chance I stumbled upon an island called VIDO. This prompted immediate research into the history of the Serbian Monarchy after visiting the Serbian memorial built during 1st world war. Through constant research and tracing who is left? where are they now? I was delighted to find your website. I am looking forward to reading your books and more importantly I really enjoy your writing style, has helped in becoming a good essay writing teacher to my daughters.

Warm regards and thank you always.

  3. Always in transit even when standing still, Christina. So many beautiful lines of thought, like “Quick steps moving them along, they kept to themselves, never making eye contact, everyone isolated in his individual pod of pensées obscure.”

This — is it because of the appearance of New York? — and the owlet story are thus far my favorite Christina stories.

  4. I loved this beautifully written peep into your crazy world, especially the obscene gesture whilst grinning broadly!!!!! EXCELLENT!

  5. Time is passing, we all know that; people are rushing somewhere and don’t have time for the friends… This is sad but true. And when they are meet at last, after long years, they are cofused, happy or (some of them) start crying for joy – this is my example. We can loose things, but real friends we’ll never loose (until we die)

  6. I love your stories. This time I was certain you would pass along the joy you felt in the fun chance of seeing your nice friend downstream to someone who was feeling no joy. xx
